The Gourmet Block is a timeless classic and one of John Boos' first Butcher Block designs for the home kitchen. The idea at the time was to create a lighter, more versatile and compact work surface for convenient and efficient meal preparation at home. The block offers a solid work surface of 61 cm x 61 cm with a weight of 43 kg and has the ideal height for kitchen work at 91.4 cm. Optional casters allow you to turn the block into a wheeled cart to move it to any convenient location. It features four elegantly tapered square legs and a slatted shelf ideal for storing frequently used kitchen tools, utensils or cookbooks. Hard Maple is an exceptionally sturdy hardwood with a light, neutral coloring that goes well with almost any decor, whether it's a country kitchen or a city kitchen. Since your block will draw a lot of attention, you'll also want to choose a color that matches your kitchen decor (see options). It is manufactured in Effingham, IL, USA to Boos' famous spur wood design and to strict professional quality standards. The spurwood work surface resists nicks and gouges and is gentle on knives, keeping them sharper longer. Made exclusively from high-quality, renewable and sustainable North American hardwoods, these handcrafted blocks provide not only a sturdy work surface, but also authentic character, beauty and presence in your kitchen.
