A Tradition of Quality and Craftsmanship
Each Boos Block® cutting board and chopping block is proudly made in Effingham, IL, USA from start to finish from premium quality, renewable, and sustainable North American hardwood by skilled craftspeople using time-honored techniques from over 135 years of design and manufacturing experience.
Premium hardwood –Ideal for your kitchen
Our 135-year journey has taught us a lot about wood and has also brought knowledge and experience in working with it. We've seen materials come and go over the years but for us the only true material for cutting and food prep surfaces is hardwood.
We use only premium renewable and sustainable sources of North American Hard Maple, Black Walnut and Cherry hardwood in our factory. It is the natural choice for us as it has the ideal properties and hardness and is gentle on quality knives. Plus, it is particularly hygienic and food-safe thanks to its natural properties inhibiting bacterial growth. We invite you to take a walk through our woods to experience the beauty yourselves.
Functionality Through Design
Whether cutting, carving, chopping, or serving, our premium hardwood cutting boards and chopping blocks are up to any task and look extremely good doing it. Something as simple as the bevel on the edge has a design purpose: prevent splitting or chipping on the outside of the cutting board.
We started making reversible cutting boards for professional chefs years ago to expand the service life and the utility of having two work surfaces. Over time, additional design features such as juice grooves or catch trays were added to provide even more functionality for customers wanting to handle runaway juices from cutting, chopping and carving.
Our designs reflect John Boos’ 135-year journey with our customers who have always required products made to the highest professional quality and safety standards in the USA. Care Tips for Your Boos Blocks®
Every Boos Blocks® cutting board and chopping block does not leave our factory without a final finish with food-safe natural oil/beeswax. Only wash by hand (NO DISHWASHER). For the optimal care of natural hardwood, we recommend using Boos Blocks® Mystery Oil and/or Board Cream, a complementary moisturizing cream with beeswax. Both products are food-safe and effective.
Simple board maintenance can ensure your handcrafted cutting boards are a favorite in your kitchen for years to come, and can even last a lifetime.
